The Face

I'm ecstatic to reveal that TTT Fashion weekend will be making it's return this summer! Preparations are still in very early stages but we are already on the hunt to find the face of the second official FW! Comment below with your username and headshot, like explained in the image above, to be in with a chance of becoming the face.

..."I would also like to add that Khol was the face of last year's FW and this has changed a lot of things for her! I'm quite sure that Khol would agree with me that this is a very exciting opportunity that can open a lot of doors on stardoll!"

A Big Thanks

I would just like to thank everyone that has followed, visited and commented since the comeback of the blog. We've went from 950 followers to almost 1030 in just a few months which I am sure is a pretty big climb for anyone! We're also very happy to see a lot more participation in the blog with comments, segments and competitions. I apologise for the lack of posts in previous days but it's been a busy weekend for most I'm sure. Finally, we are almost at 10,000 views for this month! Please keep visiting as we are now around 350 visits away. Please keep refreshing and get us to this amazing milestone as it would be a wonderful end to the first few months of TTT and an amazing wave off to all the wonderful posts from March. Again though, thank you for everything!

Vintage Treasures

Chanel Black Flap Bag, $2750.00

This week, for the vintage find, I'm reverting back to the most classical style. With festival season approaching, girls are shopping for bandeaus and bikinis, short shorts and low cut tank tops... And with so much skin exposed, sometimes it's a bit difficult to always keep it classy.

A classic Chanel bag is key. At a fraction of the retail price of a brand new bag (would you believe, a new Chanel costs anywhere from $5,000-10,000 for a bag this size?), this bag is not only a must have for this year, but basically for the rest of your life. Or, when you're old and decide a Chanel is too much for you, I'm sure your daughter would love it.

My humble opinion? If you've got the dough, buy the Chanel.
Would you buy this bag?

Pretty Polishes

With Spring approaching, not only is it time for some bright new clothing for your closet, but for some pretty new nail polish colors to spruce up your wardrobe! Here are some gorgeous colors I'm simply craving for this Spring,- are you all ready for the new season?

Dior Princess $24 (nordstrom.com)

Pretty pastels are an absolute staple, light pink is always a classic, and a must-have. It's perfect for a light hearted outfit, with a perfect shimmer to catch the sunlight off your nails. It's great for Spring: bold for the changing seasons, but it don't make you stand out unnecessarily - after all, that's what Summer's for.

Le Metier $18 (saksfifthavenue.com)

Bright blue is also an essential I am craving for Spring. Electric blue is the color of a clear late Spring/ early Summer sky, and is beautiful. Go bold, go bright, right? Add some denim and a basic white tee and you're ready for any casual day, or even, night!

Essie Geranium $8 (beauty.com)

Bright for the perfect sunny day. Essie not only sells high quality nail polish, but also they are sold at low prices. Geranium is perfect for the party you want to take your floral sundress and your cute little jean jacket with your favorite wedges to.

So here are some of my favorites I'm craving for this Spring.
What are yours?

Monthly Picks: April

As we approach April and set steadily into Spring I have decided to start a new monthly segment with picks for the following and upcoming month. Each monthly pick will be based on upcoming trends and will include all fashion, makeup, jewellery and interior.

Trends shown: lace, cutout, stripes and structure.

April is the first month of the year where colour and spring trends are properly put into action. Stripes are a surprisingly big hit this year showcased by designers such as Sportmax, Paul & Joe, Dolce & Gabbana and Jonathan Saunders. Lace and cutout both make a feature in April's picks with April fashion making a big dip into purple.

What is your favourite item for April? What would you like to see for May?

Items shown: Killah striped dress, Archive pleather lace inset dress, It Girls yellow rise dress, Voile cream lace ruffle dress, Decades collar blouse, Rio purple cut swirl top, Bizou striped bow blouse, LE laser cut heels, Dolce & Gabbana jewelled lock boots, Miss Sixty golden floral heels, Royalty necklace,     Rio spring slouch bag, Pretty in Love pink bow.

And I'm the Welite?

Consider this a rant of sorts. Its rare that I get pissed off, but today, someone had the idea in their head thinking that it was a good idea to push my buttons—we'll just leave it at that.

Let the story begin.

After posting a preview of an up and coming graphic over at The Graphic Vault, Eliza, also known as Wooldoor, provides some feedback regarding my graphic. At the time, I could hardly care less. I'm used to receiving harsh feedback; in the end, its what drives me to improve. So, like with all negative responses to my work, I reply.

If you're wondering, I was proving a point, with a slight sarcastic edge. And also because I didn't understand what Eliza was referring to. Unfortunately, sarcasm isn't my strongest suit—especially considering you can't change the tone of your voice while online.

As of this point, I wasn't expecting a reply. But of course, it comes. Being from Jewish herritage, speak of Hitler is almost prohibited in my family. When someone mentions him, a rain of silence follows. And that my friends—is how serious of an offense the comparison to Hitler is to me and my religion. To add to Eliza's remark, she bluntly states as of herself being of a pro. I've always, to say the least, have admired her work. Until now. I'd imagine at this state, Eliza's ego is as big as Asia combined.

By the point I've read her response, I've already posted the final product over at The Graphic Vault. How could I have not seen another insult launched—heading in my direction.

Actually, I did read your tip. And, thanks for the advice, by the way.

As you can see, I listened. I also did attempt to rise the quality of my graphic. If you don't like my graphics, then that's your problem, Eliza. Not mine.

I just have a few words to say to that...
First, and foremost, I apologize for the few profanities I used. Also the lack of grammar and punctuation; sadly, my knowledge slims when I'm angry. Anyhow...I'm relatively new to the welite concept, however, from the few rumors spread, I've learned its used to call someone a wannabe elite. That—for lack of better words—is so far from the truth. Like you've learned, I could hardly care about being elite, in fact, no one is better than anyone else! How dare you call someone a welite if you don't know the first thing about them? And why did you decide to let your anger out on me...I can't remember—or recall (ha ha)— ever hurting your feelings. Which leads back to the question: why me?

If there's really one word to describe my mood right now, it could only be explained by the following:
Rant over and out.

Thanks for the laugh, American Eagle

Have you ever had jeans that are just... Not skinny enough? Not tight enough? We've all been there, so has American Eagle. AE is now offering "skinny skinny" jeans. You can view the campaign video here. (Caution: said jeans are very skinny.) It appears to be a "Limited Edition" paint-on skinny jeans style that.. Get this, you spray on.

Of course, it is a
HOAX!

According to American Eagle, there are only 1,000 of these "special limited edition" skinny jeans, with SkinTight technology that clings to your skin, like, well... A second skin.

Thanks for the laugh, American Eagle. Happy Spring!

Hot Buys Weekly 7: Chanel Inspired Resort Wear

It feels so good to be back blogging again after taking a few days break from Stardoll to focus on schoolwork and such. But now that I'm back, I've been itching to critique the latest Hot Buys Weekly release! So I'm sure many of you, by now, have realized that Stardoll imitated Chanel's Resort 2013 release for this week's Hot Buys. I say they did a pretty good job with this collection.

The first piece I took a look at was the Resort '13 Dress. Using a side-by-side comparison, I'd say that they did a lovely job with the tulle layering and flowing design. The flowers on the Hot Buys dress were, however, missing the contrast that actually made them look like flowers, and not just pastel-colored confetti. The dress looked like it were being puffed up by a soft, spring breeze, and gave the dress nice volume and definition.

The next item I enjoyed was the Pastel Paris Hair. It most certainly was an accurate depiction of the wigs that the girls sported while modeling the designs at Chanel's release. I thoroughly enjoyed the color, being a fan of pastels, and the cut and style. They did a nice job with the windy look.

When glancing back and forth between Chanel's release and the Hot Buys, the Golden Resort Purse fell a bit short. The purse design itself lacked detail, and was a little too 2-dimensional for my tastes. 8 Stardollars for something of this caliber isn't necessarily a waste of money, but I wouldn't really recommend spending money on it. Of course, I do commend the lovely effort and style of the gold chain, as well as the shading on the strap.

The Resort '13 Sunhat was a classic and versatile addition to this week's collection, in my opinion. The wide brim nicely complimented the black ribbon tied around it. However, the shading gave it a plastic appearance, and I do think they could have done more with deepening the shade and gradient of the pink. There wasn't really anything too special about this hat, though.

I was a little confused with the Striped Boots. Sure, the pinstripes in light pink on the white were very nice, but I really don't see how it fit into this collection. It was as if they just threw a re-designed copy of January's Fallen Angel Boots. (See attached photo.) It was definitely the wild card in this collection.

Overall, this collection scored an A.

I think Stardoll did a pretty decent job with this collection, and managed to accurately pay homage to Chanel's Resort '13 release! I hope there will be more of these types of collections in the future!

Crop Top Trend

Hey, it's me again! I'm back being very inspired by real life fashion these past times. So I'm bringing to you an ambitious way to make posts. Really structured, as I think every collection designers draws show a perception of what the women's silouhette needs to look like next season. And this season, crop top is back!

You guys surely remember Lindsay Lohan ten years ago wearing this trend. Then, it's back here for the thinner of us that have no problems with showing their navel.
Now let's see where you can find some of 'em.

The CHANEL Woman

"I feel like a China-Chanel girl"
The Chanel woman is classy, as ever. She enjoys her crop top on high-waisted pants or a high-waisted short skirt to give her legs a bit of credits otherwise she feels uncomfortable. If she doesn't use black, it's only white or blue. The arms get to be a bit oversized because she wants some fresh air on the long sleeves. To perfect the look she always feels the need to make a tribute to the sea with big pearls on her wrists or her neck.

Chanel Overload

The phase of real life Stardoll comparison blogs seems to have drifted away and we are all now left wondering what designers Stardoll use to inspire their pieces. I've been very unsure on all Hot Buys Weekly's so far however I quickly realised the large use of Chanel Resort 2013 with the sunhat, dress, hair and bag all being inspired by the wonderful collection.

It also appears that the shoes from this Chanel collection were the blue ones in last weeks hot buys! I don't know about you but seeing the real life items made me all the more tempted to purchase them on Stardoll. What are your favourites and what did you like? As usual, a review will be posted by Vivian later in the week.

To conclude, what posts would you enjoy reading on TTT? I'm reasonably stuck with ideas and I feel that you may get sick and tired of Fashion Battles and the such. Would you like to see more real life fashion posts like this one?

Vintage Treasures

Hello fashionistas,

My last "Vintage Treasures" post seemed to return quite a bit of positive feedback, so would you all enjoy a (possible) weekly post on vintage I have scoured online? Please comment about whether you'd enjoy that or not, and if not, I promise I will not take up any more space on your monitors with vintage posts!

This week's vintage treasure is not exactly a vintage piece itself, but more "inspired" by vintage, but I find it very adorable and very perfect for spring. It's pastel, for one, a spring must- and it's got a kind of Wild West cowgirl feeling mixed with a downtown girl vibe. AND, lastly, it has ombre, which if you didn't know, I am a real sucker for.

Cowgirl fringe ombre shorts, $150

What do you think? Fashionable or a faux-pas?

Vogue Magazine Review

Hello my fashionable friends,

It seems (acclaim-wise) that Vogue magazine would be the "it" magazine of today, n'est-ce pas? For example, on my last review of "X Magazine" I was faced with several disparaging comments about how I've judged X too soon to show whether it is a lasting magazine, while Vogue with (whoa), 9 issues, has already proven to be a powerhouse in the industry. But has it... really? It seems the editor-in-chief, Jelinna, has a strong pack of followers who are both loyal and biased. I, fortunately, have not hopped on that train car, and FEAR NOT, dear readers, you can always count on me for a non-biased and detailed review. As always, remember, instead of using page numbers, I use brackets, for example the cover is [1/25]. This magazine contains 25 pages.

Click HERE to view Vogue in a new window to follow along with me.
Graphic Design: 9/10 If anything, Vogue is most famous for it's graphics and it's graphics are probably the #1 reason why Vogue even has the following it does. My favorite graphics have to be the Spring Trends [4/25], although I must say the shading and make-up is a bit strange at parts [5/25] and [17/25] and I feel Jelinna has gotten a bit sloppy at times. Because she has already set such high standards for herself, I was expecting more consistency, which I did not see at all times. Vogue is no longer a fledgling magazine- it must bring to the table the same high standards it has set for itself consistently, in every single issue.

Fashion Editorial: 4/10 Uh... excuse me? Where is your editorial? What I find funny is that there is no theme whatsoever throughout the magazine. It's confusing and not fluid and I see what should be an article in "When I Doubt Wear Red" [8/25], yet there is nothing after it: it just switches to something the editor feels is relevant, but in reality- is really not. At all. There's not much to comment on, because, well, there's not much here at all.

Trends Shown: 8.5/10 There's quite a bit of trend shown here... But I wish there was an explanation. Nothing tells me why any of this is even popular [4-9/25]. Honestly, there's no reason why I should buy these clothes in Starplaza. Because Vogue says it's popular, without explanation? Your magazine may be distinguished, but it hasn't gotten to the point where it's a fashion Bible, like the real life Vogue. So, please, do give us some explanation.

Creativity: 2/10 The title itself is one of the least unique, creative ideas, EVER. The reason why it has taken so long to have a "Vogue" magazine on Stardoll is well, because it has been done already. In real life. Everything in this article is so... cliche. Traditionally pretty, with a already done before "Beauty" section [11-13/25]... And a biography of Lady Gaga [17-21/25], like we all don't know who she is. I tried to be kind and return points here, but there is ZERO semblance of originality and creativity... The magazine does not even aspire to. BE DARING!!! I cannot stress this enough.

Writing Style: 2/10 The only points given here are ones for having some words on the page. I did not even bother to read any articles, because there were 2 total "articles" (if even that) in this magazine: a beauty tutorial and Lady Gaga's biography, which, by the way, looks like a copy-and-pasted Wikipedia page to me. Hard hitting stuff, eh? More like a fashion catalog rather than a magazine.

How did this magazine score?
25.5 out of 50 points, at 51% or F

My Final Comments: Truthfully, graphics mean so little in the face of a magazine's value. I promise, open up any magazine from Marie Claire to (the real life) Vogue, and I GUARANTEE you will find articles that are debatable, hot button issues, that interest people. Society events, parties, interesting critiques from experts and original fashion ideas. Vogue really has nothing, besides "pretty pictures." And, even that, seem sloppier than they have been in past issues. I was expecting a higher score, but I am non-biased and will give the score I deem to be fitting. If Vogue does not change, that's fine- just do not expect me to do another review of this magazine in that case: it's not even worth my time.

What do you think TTT? Agree/disagree?
Is there a magazine you think I should review? Tell me!

Vintage Treasures

Hello my fashionable friends!

I have fallen in love with this vintage Givenchy bracelet (it's made of gold, by the way), but sadly, the price tag is a bit too steep for my taste. Nevertheless, I would love to share with you all this wonderful fashion find! What do you all think about vintage? Would you wear this bracelet? I think vintage is a great way to find inexpensive clothing that is both timeless and for a reduced price!

Givenchy Bracelet, $595

Hot Buys Weekly 6: Denim

This week's theme for the Weekly Hot Buys release was denim, and lots of it. I think the only items in the collection that weren't made of the fashionably durable material were the two pairs of shoes. However, as much as my love for the versatile fabric goes, I didn't particularly like Stardoll's take on it with this release. The construction seemed a little sloppy and haphazard to me; and although the general design might have been somewhat inspiring, it fell into the category of those more recent Hot Buys that aren't anything special.

So we'll begin with the Knot Striped Shirt. I definitely enjoyed the loosely casual knot at the bottom of the shirt, but it did little with the overall design of the item itself. The wrinkles and creases in the fabric were constructed decently, but with barely a strip of midriff showing and the modesty in the high-buttoned collar making me slightly uncomfortable, I could hardly see spending 14 Stardollars on it.

Next is the Dotted Denim Dress, which I didn't like very much. To me, it kind of resembled a cross between "cowgirl" and "trendy", which only works in some circumstances... and this wasn't one of them. The denim star-printed fabric didn't really work in this particular dress, and to be quite honest, it looked like someone took a pair of scissors to some overalls and sewed it on top of an opaque LBD. However, the shape of the bodice was rather nice, and I liked the straps, but I feel like more effort could have been put into the skirt to make it truly Hot Buys worthy. That was the overall problem with this entire release. Nothing really that caught my eye or made me want to spend a whopping 18 Stardollars.

The Dotted Punk Jeans would have been so much nicer if the Stardoll designers hadn't overlooked one crucial detail: the fact that the translucent white dot pattern is running right off the leg of the jeans into space, only by a little, but still overlooked, nonetheless. Forgive me if I'm being overly captious with my patterns here, but it just ticked at me, I suppose. But I really did love the jeans themselves. Aside from that simple misdemeanor, the simplistic style and the cuffed ends were quite nice. The acid wash coloring was also really nice. I do still believe that more could have been done to the waistband and the stitching could have been enhanced a little, but I'll settle for this, if nothing else. Probably the nicest item in this week's release, in my opinion.

But my question is... what's so punk about ripped jeans?

I'm usually very picky when it comes to buying shoes in the Starplaza. I've got to try them on a bunch of different times, with different pairs of pants or jeans or leggings, and I've got to be 110% sure that I'll actually wear them and not waste my money buying them. That being said, I'd probably avoid buying the Camelia Sneakers. I'm really confused as to what the point of sticking random black tufts of whatever that's supposed to be onto the sides of the shoe. The straps of the shoe (if that's what those actually were) blended right in with the fabric, making it look even more plain than it was to begin with.

I really don't have much to say about the Mademoiselle Booties. I won't go that far as to say they were a horrendous blight on the name of fashion, and "how dare they call themselves shoes", but it was pretty bad. It would have looked a little nicer if it had a more sophisticated and sleek appeal and overall design.

Overall, this collection scored a D.

I'm still waiting for a huge surprise for next week! I'm thinking a modern, Oriental themed collection would be a fresh take? Or maybe the classic black and white mod. So many options, but we'll have to see what comes out next week! Until then, dollies!

Review: X Magazine

How very... Scandalous.

Dear readers, what we are about to witness is the return of stylish, sexy graphics that are both eye-catching and thought provoking. Yet, on its face, X Magazine seems like the epitome of what a Stardoll magazine should be: but is it? Let us weigh it on the TTT scale and see. As always, remember instead of putting page numbers, I use brackets, for example, the cover is [1/27]. This magazine contains 27 pages.

Click HERE to view X Magazine in a new window & follow my commentary.

Graphic Design: 8.5/10 X establishes a simplistic, monochromatic theme from the cover through to the end. Sometimes, monochrome is the worst possible idea to do because it is too boring- yet X has succeeded in making it work, and I love it. And I mean, love it. From the Chanel ads [3/27] to the editorial [11/27] (and may I say, nice collarbones? Gorgeous!) I am in love. Yet, the X "Trend Report"'s cover graphics [13/27] made me cringe a little bit. Also, the nun's habit does not even touch on fashionable, sorry [21/27]. Coupled together, it's a great start, but could be worked on: may I suggest a little better curating next time?

Fashion Editorial: 8/10 I will go ahead and assume your "Balenciaga" article [9-12/27] is the X version of editorial. It's a novel idea, I like it. Lets roll with it. I love the graphics, as commented on above, the writing is good, yet as a magazine you are facing a problem many other magazines don't: you don't have enough pictures. There are not enough pieces to make this a fashion editorial. Instead of one full outfit, think two or three. Although, all together, I like the idea and I think it is a creative way to not only educate your readers, but also create a magazine that looks to the future.

Trends Shown: 8.5/10 I really like how X broke the trend down into different pieces, however, I feel two or three trends could have been done in this section. One outfit, 3 pages [14-16/27]? My complaints end there, however. I like it. I like the running commentary, I like the outfit, and I think it fits beautifully into the theme X has established here. Good work.

Creativity: 9.5/10 I've seen more creativity in this magazine than any other in awhile. From the new approach on fashion editorials, to the trend breakdowns, to the unique graphics and the creative theme, it's really very good. And, at the end, I love "Controversy" by AislinVictory, [24-25/27]. Simply from the creativity aspect in it, it establishes an idea that magazines can make people think once more: not just mindless catalogues of clothing. This magazine has many interesting articles and themes, I could just swoon.

Writing Style: 8/10 This is where it gets tricky. Historically, I haven't critiqued writing much because other magazines simply do not have any writing whatsoever. This time, I'm faced with the dilemma: there are so many articles, which one should I read? I am selecting a random article, and I am reading "How Religion Influenced Fashion" [21-22/27]. All articles in a magazine should be carefully edited and picked at before publication, correct? So every article in the magazine should be of similar caliber and quality. Here we go: I think the concept is great. I've never thought about religion influencing fashion before: this article is original as it can get. Yet, the author makes a point I cannot quite follow along with at times, and seems to lean towards off topic at a certain point "they take these ideas and inject them into their runway shows almost as a brainwashing scheme..." what? The author makes these interesting points: now show me the facts. Which designers? Which collections? Which year? You gave me the why- how?

How did this magazine score?
42.5 out of 50 points, at 85% or B

My Final Comments: Congratulations X Magazine! I don't think I've given out a B all year! Excellent job all around, and I can see you need to fix some of the details, but I also can see myself giving you possibly an A or A- next time around. Improvements, sure, but you have come pretty close to perfect. I'd say you are in the lead to be the industry's standards.

What do you think TTT?

Advertising

As more changes and exciting events are coming to the blog I decided it would be a good time to open up for advertisements on Today's Top Trends, whether it be your new magazine, blog, fashion line, project or any other advertisement.

There is an applications tab with different offers at the top of the blog where you can apply. Don't worry however, these will be limited to one advertisement a week so they do not clog up the regular posts on TTT. I look forward to presenting you some other exciting news to come but meanwhile enjoy the blog!

The Anonymous Fest

Perhaps you've read my previous post concerning the return of Memories of a Medoll? As an avid blogger, I'm constantly on the run; checking out new blogs, abandoned and forever forgotten blogs, plus those whom affiliate with the category, revival blogs.

Alas, Jenny, the final edition to the three "Queens of Lifestyle", has made her debut in the world of blogging. Jenny made a post within the past few days regarding her return to the socialite scene. Of course, with a new controversy returning to town, there's ought to be a handful of seemingly contagious anonymous'.

Honestly, I couldn't be more entertained by reading their comments. Expect more than enough swearing, bashfulness, and sincere hate. Continue reading if your ready to rid of whatever sense of childhood that still daunts you.

1000 Raffle Winner

First of all, thank you to everyone that entered! I really appreciate everyone getting involved with the blog and supporting us. There are quite a few things lined up for the rest of March, April and following months.

I can though exclusively reveal the winner of the 1000 follower giveaway. Please remember that this was chosen completely through a random generator. Once again thank you to everyone that entered and took part in the raffle and we hope to host many more in the future! Without further ado the winner of the 1000 stardoll raffle is...

"I would like to see some gorgeous tailored suits for girls. Maybe if interesting patterns and colours or simple colours like white or black that looks sleek and elegant."...

Release: Vogue Magazine

The 9th issue of Vogue was released today which you can check out here. I think the issue is a huge step up from the last two and with a bit of tweaking the magazine can surpass the quality of it's older issues. I liked the graphics more this time around as I think the technique works a lot better than the one used in previous editions. I still think the articles need to be focused on more but overall a good quality issue which I totally recommend checking out. Expect a review next week.

Hot Buys Weekly 5: Vintage Voyage

I can honestly say that I was rather shocked when I logged on this afternoon to find that yet another Weekly Hot Buys collection had been released! I'm making a stab in the dark at this latest release being a bonus collection of some sorts, being that there were few items; all of which were accessories. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this week's bonus collection. This "voyage" theme was neat, classy, and elegant, which was certainly a splash of ice water in the face for myself, if not for many who believe that the most recent years' Hot Buys collections have been nothing but non-cohesive flops. I certainly commend the nice designs in this week's release.

The Voyage Scarf was my favorite piece in the collection. I thought the sheer black chiffon and the deep violet pattern complemented each other very nicely, as well as the style and cut of the fabric. The knot of the scarf itself had an elegant look that would really look good with most neutral colors, or anything plain as a means of dressing it up without it being too overpowering.

Another favorite of mine was the Voyage Big Bag, which did credit to its name. It certainly was a large enough, with a smooth handle and a waxy appearance (thanks to the nice shading on the creases of the leather). The deep burgundy color with the orange-brown tan of the handles looked just like a vintage tote, with a simplistic enough pattern that is versatile with almost any darker color.

I wouldn't mind spending 9 Stardollars on the Voyage Stilettos, if they were a little more creative with the idea. I don't think the overly-modern and mundane design worked with the vintage theme at all, however the craftsmanship was pretty decent in regards to the shading and the shadows underneath the ankle-buckle. It looked a little too "Original Future" for me, not one of my favorite shopping destinations at the Starplaza.

The Voyage Fleur Bag had the potential to be a lovely piece, but in my opinion, it was ruined by the childish-looking flower in the clasp. The shading was gorgeous, and realistic enough to tell that the outer layer was a quilted plastic sort of design, which was quite nice. However I don't think the almost neon indigo color really worked with the theme. One thing I did appreciate in this design was the effort visible in the metal clasps holding the handles to the bag itself. They were subtle enough to go unnoticed, and subtle enough to be a shining star all by themselves. They really gives the shorter handles a lovely definition, and add to the overall quality of the bag.

The last piece in this collection was not an accessory, rather a themed steamer trunk in a lovely shade of pale pink and white. The Luxury Trunk is a lovely addition to this collection, and the wooden panels on the corners really accentuate the pale pink around the trunk, and the white quilted pattern on the inside. I really liked the white curlicues on the top edges, as well.

Overall, this collection scored an A-

So far, the ratings seem pretty erratic for most of the collections, with scores ranging from A's to F's. However, this was one collection that I was pleasantly surprised and relieved to see, after last week's low rating. I think they're really working on the craftsmanship with some of these pieces, but that as well, takes continuous effort, so we shall hope for the best!

Timeline of Fashion #1

Limited Edition, which is often abbreviated as LE, has been a brand on Stardoll for more than 4 years now and has seen quality diminish over each passing season. Limited Edition began in December 2008 with it's first collection which Stardoll describes as:

"LE Brand: Limited Edition For Fashion Leaders who set the trends that others follow - Each beautifully illustrated item is available on a first come, first serve basis. Once purchased your LE Brand garments will permanently carry their LE Number Tag: The authenticity of each edition is preserved for all time.

The core concepts of LE Brand explore the defining trends of Fall 2008
SEQUINS- Sprinkled Generously over the entire LE collection adding texture and sparkle for show stopping looks.
STUDS - Writ Large, Oversized and Unexpected: clustered on the Studded Motorcycle Jacket, striping the Belt and punctuating the effect of our Boots
ZIPPERS - Now as Inventive Edge Treatment: tracing ruffles on our Shift Dress, Tank and Miniskirt, defining the shapes of our Platform Ankle Boots
BOLD COLORS- Pairing fashions most graphic and energetic color combination: Black and Pink.

LE Brand: Exclusive Rights to the Future of Fashion"

With only 100-350 editions of each item the collection proved a massive hit, managing to sell out in less than 24 hours. Ecstatic about this news Stardoll got to work on their second collection. On February 11th 2009, three months after the first edition, Stardoll released the 2nd season of LE, often penned as the 'Hearts Collection' or 'Denim Collection'.

This collection expanded to 2 floors with items holding up to 600 pieces. This edition was once again a storming success and flew off the shelves on the day of release, excluding a few items that sold out on the 12th, one day later. Although not quite as graphically 'top notch' as the first season, the second collection still had a beautiful array of items, with the rarest item (Cupid Dress/150 pieces) now costing thousands and thousands of stardollars.

The third collection was released on April 16th 2009 and was once again 2 floors. It was a very Spring inspired collections that Stardoll deemed as very vibrant, floral and hippy chic. The collection once again sold out in a mere few days. It was a very beautiful collection and in my personal opinion, I think all three of the first LE collections rank equally.

They truly marked what LE's original concept was and provided stunning, on trend items, at high prices, and at very limited numbers. They focused on quality rather than quantity and Stardoll made sure that LE would be a success. Now that Stardoll is primarily focused on business LE has went down the drain as they realised many members would buy anything they release from the brand. I for one really miss when these collections would sell out in 2 days, with the most recent edition taking over one month to fully go.

I could continue to rant on and on about how LE has sadly diminished into yet another boring and tacky brand on Stardoll, but I will leave you on a high note about the three beautiful first collections. Nearly all items from these first three releases from LE fetch more than 1000 stardollars in the starbazaar now. What is your favourite season from Limited Edition?

Release: X Magazine

X Magazine, created by Jack (queendetox), has released it's highly anticipated debut Spring 2013 issue.  The issue is very minimalistic featuring articles on Balmain, religions influence on fashion, a trend report, and an interesting interview with the covergirl Tania (cooldeer123).

The issue has already been dubbed 'better than Vogue' and 'the best magazine of 2013' so I highly recommend checking it out by clicking the image/cover above.

Miss Sixty, Fashion On Repeat

In recent days the popular real brand Miss Sixty released yet another Stardoll collection. There's no denying it's a nice enough collection with numerous stand out pieces, but haven't we seen it all before? Time after time Miss Sixty seems to be releasing very similar stuff. I say it's time to get some other real brands into the mix to balance out the continual clothing that Miss Sixty is forking out. Saying this, I have seen some beautiful pieces in the collection, some of which I surprisingly have not seen before. If you wish to view the collection just click here and it will redirect you to the starplaza (in another tab).

On a side note, award for the most amount of floors ever goes to... Miss Sixty!
Maybe ought to clean the starplaza up Stardoll.

Exclusive: X Spoiler

I present to you an exclusive spoiler of the highly anticipated magazine X just for the eyes of the TTT readers. I can also exclusively reveal that the magazine is due for release in the next 7 days. Keep your eyes peeled for the magazine which you can visit here. What are your thoughts? Excited about the upcoming release?

Food For Thought: Aging

Consider this thought.

"Any fear of aging, I think it is simply vanity. Because what comes with age is so many wonderful things: wisdom, understanding." -Leighton Meester

Brigette Bardot in her "glory days" as a young woman.

At some point we begin to think about ourselves aging past this stage of "youth" into mature adulthood, to middle age, and finally to elderly. When we are young, and people ask us what we want to become in life, we answer matter-of-factly with responses such as a policewoman, or a teacher. We live in that state of eternal youth where life seems to stretch into infinite days where life is defined simply. Yet, at one point we all realize the inevitable: parents die, siblings die, pet dogs die, and we, too, will eventually die.

I think this is where the fear of aging comes from. We are afraid of ourselves changing: our youthful, "beautiful" appearances change, and our souls wisen yet our bodies age and devolve. We are vain, yes, but personally I believe that this fear comes from our fears of dying, such as: what are we missing out on once we are dead? What will happen to us? Yet, there is nothing we can do to slow the process. We can remove our wrinkles through injections, get daily facials, or dye our hair to its original state, yet we are still going to age

Simply, society is the problem. Society is the root of so many problems. Problems with our body image, our clothing, our looks. Society does not find many elderly women attractive. Why, today I heard this girl talking about Brigette Bardot. "She was so pretty in her twenties," she said, "But now she is ugly. She's like, old. Like, 80 old. How attractive can 80 year old women be?" In my mind, I feel her perceptions are all wrong.
.
Brigette Bardot today.
Yes, she may not be the world renowned beauty she used to be, but she is still beautiful. We simply need to look for the beauty inside ourselves. Finding that beauty, I believe, is the key to our problems. Once we realize our self worth on the inside, corny as it may seem, aging does not seem as scary. Look forward to the day where you can relax after a lifetime of good work and realize you have accomplished and learned so much. Look forward to the day where you will be 80 and still see yourself as beautiful as you were when you were 20. If we can see in ourselves today, can we not make a better tomorrow for us all?

Weekly Hot Buys 4: Retro

Welcome back to the fourth installment of the Weekly Hot Buys reviews! A few things to remember while reading this, the first being that I was in a pretty good mood because Florence + the Machine had come on Pandora at the exact moment I decided to check out the Starplaza for this week's latest release, and my mom had just arrived with a huge case of Vitamin Water. The second being that, for these reasons alone, I was able to stomach this week's Hot Buys and charge through with equally uncharacteristic vivacity.

No, but seriously, this meme pretty much summed up my initial reaction.

I have to admit, I was rather confused by this week's odd theme. I pegged it as "retro" in the title, hoping it was somewhat accurate.

Here's a picture of the collection (courtesy of the Starplaza... and yes, this is another print-screened image. Sorry about that, but I don't get the ads anymore; not quite sure why. Once I figure that out, the picture quality should hopefully improve, haha).

So we'll begin with the Brooch Jacket, and I'm not quite sure I even know how to begin with this one. The overall design and pattern really threw me off. I think the color is nice, but the random, unidentifiable objects stitched into it were quite unflattering. However, I do enjoy the craftsmanship on the pearl buttons and the collar, but it certainly isn't worth the 16 Stardollars that they're charging for it.

The Mirror Skirt was another piece that I wasn't too fond of. The cut, length and color were actually rather nice, however I didn't like the reflective polka-dots sewn into the fabric. It just screamed, "shower curtain" to me.

I believe that in every Hot Buys collection, there's always one piece that you really can't mess up, and in this week's release, it was the Checkerboard Tights. Classic and versatile, these tights could be paired with several different colors and styles, but I feel that the best use for them would be in a kitschy / vintage theme. They really are quite nice, and the craftsmanship is lovely, especially in regards to the reflection of light off the surface, as well as the shading.

The Medallion Clutch, however, was not nearly as nice. It reminded me of the glasses case I used to have for my thin, wire-frame glasses in the 5th grade, and the seatbelt-buckle strap only made it worse. The shading on the metal adjustment clasps were nice enough, however it wasn't enough to pull this accessory through to a passing grade.

The Beaded Heels caught my attention, that is, until I took a closer look at the overall composition. Sure, the craftsmanship was nice in regards to the heel and the strap, but the rumpled, pink fabric and sewn-in black and white beads really didn't belong there. Maybe if someone took an iron to the heavy, thick-looking fabric, or if the oddly out-of-place beading were taken out, it would be worth spending 7 Stardollars.

Overall, this collection scored an F

I really didn't like this theme (and my opinion may not be yours), but I'm still on the edge of my seat to see what's on for next week! I would really love to see a 50's revival. God, I love the 50's; halter necks, big hair, poodle skirts, the whole nine yards! Well, a girl can dream, can't she?

And on that note, I'll be seeing you all next week! Ciao!

We Did it, 1000!

1000 FOLLOWERS

I'm not going to turn this into a lengthy and unnecessary speech but I would like to thank everyone that is a follower of the blog and getting it where it is. Less than a month ago we only had 955 followers and today we finally hit the milestone that is 1000. There's been a lot of uncertainty over the blog in months passed but I am proud to say this blog is doing better than ever!

Thank you to Tyler for creating this wonderful blog, to Khol for being a great co-owner and helping to really bring this blog back and thank you to the writers past and present for doing an amazing job to get this blog where it is. Most of all though thank YOU, the readers. This really means a lot!

As I said previously there is a raffle to win 1000 stardollars, however the celebrations do not stop there... I'm planning a whole host of new competitions, plans and exciting opportunities that I'm very excited to share with you all in the next few weeks.

On a final note, thank you for getting us to 1000 followers! I hope our success does not stop here and we continue to grow into a bigger and better blog with even more wonderful readers and followers.

Give It A Rest Already...

Maybe you've heard, but MDM is making a reappearance. My reaction to the return was probably equivalent to a five year old on Christmas morning. After all, who wouldn't be pleasantly surprised to find Noelle (or Isabella, I honestly can't tell...) poised behind a computer screen, writing with undeniable passion?

In the words of an icone here's what they had to say about the reappearance...

"The beloved MDM blog is at its rightful owners once again.

And why shouldn't it be?

Denying the owners' access to their own blog is unforgivable.
And stripping them off completely is just plain disrespectful.
MDM does not owe anyone any explanation.

NO

Especially not you"

The last part didn't seize to entertain my active mind. I definitely didn't notice the indirect attack. I waited a few days, silently wondering if this was all but a bluff. I mean, Noelle was gone for over a year. But, I was surprised when post after post was established, completely contradicting my original thoughts. By this point my curiosity had slowly faded into pure amusement.

"After what seemed to be a needless drama about that last person who kicked us out (whom we kicked back OUT harder), MDM is having a HUGE overhaul of the whole blog from what was left from it (whoever thought that the tacky blue-green damask background was cute is certainly disturbed). In the next couple of weeks, MDM will be undergoing a HUGE restoration from writers, to graphics to the overall look & feel."

I do not know Aislin very well, but from tracking MDM ever since she gained ownership, visually I could tell she put a ton of blood, sweat, and tears into the making of the blog. Including a handful of stardollars too, if your forgetting about the gorgeous, and now completely tarnished graphics. Although, lets not forget about Dei, either. She helped a tremendous amount as well.

And to be completely honest here, I think the current state MDM is in right now is much tackier than it was just days before.

The general idea here is a simple one. With a dash of misunderstanding, an overdose of immaturity, and a slice of slurred irrationality, Noelle has indeed gotten her point across. And its as clear as a bell. Though, I must confess, there's one final question lingering in the air...

Maybe Noelle forgot to attend her weekly anger management class?
